Marcel and Angela Cordos are our missionaries in Eastern Europe with their four children, Naomi, Samy, Teofil, and Teodora. Marcel has been a PIE Borad member from the beginning and is the senior pastor of the "Cetate" Romanian Baptist Church in Alba Iulia. He adopted a different strategy in that he works with two assistants. The vision of PIE in Romania is to challenge and mold the Romanian churches to get involved in missions, after fifty years of communist pressures, by setting an example through the PIE churches, as well as a network of nationals, fully dedicated to evangelism, discipleship, and church planting.

SEPTEMBER UPDATE:

Dear partners,

God’s time has arrived! After waiting and praying for five years, today, the 15th of September, at 9:54am on a sunny morning, as God’s grace was shining on us, we broke ground at the Christian Center site.

With no walls and rooms yet, only the white lines set by the contractor, I invited the people present to step into the limits of the new rooms. We praised God together for giving the vision for such a place to dear people, for those who have been praying for so many years, and for those who gave money. We also asked for God to protect us through the whole building process and for the Center to be a blessing for many generations from now on. I then invited Eugene, our PIE president, to sit by Joseph on the excavator as the first hole for the foundation was being dug.

This is one major step from the many before and those ahead. We had to make many steps and it took a long time to get all the papers ready and get all the approvals to start. We struggled many times because of this and felt embarrassed to write to you because of this issue. This happened in part because in Romania, a former communist country, things move so slowly. But now, the building has started to be built! Though we don’t know all the details of the journey, we celebrate our God who will join us every step of the way. We want to stay faithful to Him in all our lives. We appreciate your prayers and support of any kind in the past and in the future.
