In the New Testament, the local church is never defined, but it is described using two metaphors: the family and the body. Our former view of membership best aligns with family. Once you are in, you are in for life. You don’t have to DO anything to be part of the family. However, if we view membership as being part of a body, then every part must fulfill its role or the other parts will suffer as a result.
Membership is recognition that a person is committed to and involved at Lake Center Bible Church. Membership is for one who understands the doctrine and constitution of LCBC and who desires to place himself/herself under the authority of this local church. It is a celebration and recognition that a person is connected, growing and serving, or preparing to serve. Membership is required for certain leadership positions as determined by the Board of Elders.
This new Membership Renewal process was created to allow each member to have the opportunity to affirm their choice to be an active part of “the body” here at Lake Center. It will also be a vehicle for you to let us know whether or not the ministry that you are involved in is a good fit for you and how we might help you find that place you can best use your gifts and experience.
All members will have the opportunity to renew their membership annually. This will be done approximately two months before the Annual Congregational Meeting.
