The MOPS ministry is directed by a group of dedicated ladies from Lake Center Bible Church under the oversight of our Senior Pastor, Greg Stewart. There are currently eight members of the team:
MARTI LINDSTROM,
COORDINATOR
WOW!!! I am so delighted to be your coordinator for this year. We have some exciting plans and I can't wait for you to be a part of them. Let me tell you a little about myself. I met my husband Allen at Cornerstone University and we were married in 1994. I earned my teaching degree from WMU and taught middle school P.E. and math in Paw Paw Public Schools for 3 years. I knew I wanted to be a stay at home mom, so my career as a teacher was short lived. Our first of 3 was born in 2001. Trammell is 5 1/2, Darby is 4 1/2 , and Sawyer 1/1/2. I can't imagine anything more important than being a mother to my children. What an amazing and life changing experience. My favorite part of MOPS is the connection between the moms. It is great for us to know that when we are going through the day to day struggles of life with preschoolers, that there are other moms who have been down that same road. I need that encouragement to keep going!!!!
DENISE BAUMANN, MENTOR MOM
Hi, my name is Denise Baumann and I am the Mentor and Speaker at MOPS. I have been married almost 26 years and I have four children: 24, 22, 19 and 11. As you can see I have been a wife and mother for a long time and I Love it. I am always looking for new and more efficient ways to "get the job done" so to speak. MOPS has played a very important roll in this area of my life. In the end, my children will have fond memories of childhood because I was deliberate about being a good mom.
SARAH WEBB, CARE GROUP COORDINATOR
Hi my name is Sarah Webb, I have been attending MOPS for almost seven years now. I grew up in Port Huron, Michigan and came to Western Michigan University as a bright-eyed freshman. I met my husband my senior year of school and we got married the year after I graduated in 1999. So we've been married almost 9 years. We now have 3 boys. Austin is 7, Connor is 4 and Drew is 2. They keep me running like mad. I love the spirit of boys! Mine are extremely adventurous and love the element of risk in everything. I think this has been the biggest surprise about becoming a mother, that they are all unique and they teach me so much more than I ever thought they would. I just started my Masters degree in Counseling at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary and I am excited for what the future brings.
TAMMY ROTH, REGISTRATION LEADER
Welcome! I have been saying this as registration leader for 4 years, as I am generally the first person ladies see in the morning at our MOPS group. I have been coming for 6 ½ years and have loved getting to know and befriend all the women. I have been married to my husband, John for almost 12 years and we have three lovely daughters who are each unique in their own ways. Sophia is 8 ½ and entering third grade, Jacquelyn is 7 and is excited about second grade while I am home with my MOPPET Heidi age 4. They all keep me hopping and love helping out with anything related to MOPS whenever they can. I have had such a heart and desire to help moms in this stage of their lives since I was mentored with my first child. It is an awesome feeling to know that you have someone that you can call when you have questions; no matter what the questions may be (serious, strange, silly, or what you think is stupid!) I have learned that no question is wrong; if you have a question, someone should be able to answer it! I LOVE being that person and MOPS has really allowed me to be able to learn from moms and share what I can with moms as well. So, what can I say but WELCOME! Please come try us out and see how much help a little time spent with moms can do for your heart.
ADRIAN MCCLELLAND, PUBLICITY
This is my 2nd year with MOPS at Lake Center Bible Church. I am originally from the east side of the state, and my husband, Isaac and I now live in Kalamazoo with our 2 1/2 year old son Josiah and another boy on the way in October 2007. I'm a graduate of Cornerstone University with a major in Marketing, so I just couldn't pass up the chance to get involved with the Publicity team! I believe that I was born to be a mom and I love all the smiles, kisses and hugs! I also love being a part of MOPS and I enjoy the friendships, encouragement and time of refreshment that a MOPS morning brings.
TRACY MAZELIN, PUBLICITY
I was born in Portsmouth, England and raised in Nottingham which is famous for Sherwood Forrest and Robin Hood! When I was 18, I left home to go to the island of Malta and met an American missionary family who completely changed the direction of my life! After living with them for 1 year, I came over to the States to pursue Bible College. I attended Frontier School of the Bible in LaGrange, WY and met my husband, Mike there. We graduated in 2001 and were married in an 800-year-old church in my home town in England! We then attended Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, MO and I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Computer Education while pregnant with our first son, David. We then returned to the island of Malta to do missionary work for a year and it was here that we discovered we were pregnant with twins! We came back to the States to have the twins, Jonathan & Jacob and have now settled in Vicksburg, MI. In my spare time, I enjoy selling things on eBay and doing web-site design. With three pre-schooler's under the age of three, MOPS has become a source of renewal for me and a place to connect with other Mum's!
MARIANNE VOETBERG, FINANCE LEADER
My husband Buzz and I will be married 10 years in September. We have four children - Clara(6), Ellie(5), Reagan(5), and Gavin(3). Two things I never thought would happen to me are that I would marry someone named Buzz and have twins! God has a great sense of humor. We lived in Green Bay, WI until 1 1/2 years ago when we moved here to Portage. When I have time to myself I like to read, run, do crosswords and I enjoy all kinds of sports-playing them as well as spectating. In my former life (!) I was a manager in a public accounting firm and worked for a private company. Currently, I am on the board at Alternatives - Women's Care Center and I volunteer there in the accounting area. I am also on the facilities committee at Lake Center. I have been involved with MOPS for 4 1/2 years and have learned so much and met the greatest women.
